Ngoc Huynh Trinh
Biography
Ngoc Huynh Trinh is currently a PhD researcher in Medical Science within the AI-supported Modelling in Clinical Sciences (AIMS) Group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. He received his BSc in Information Technology (2024) and MSc in Computer Science (2026) from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi, Vietnam. His research journey began with his bachelor's thesis, entitled "Diffusion Model in Latent Space for Medical Image Segmentation," under the supervision of Dr. Tran Quoc Long, Head of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI) at VNU-UET. During his subsequent master's studies, he worked as a teaching assistant at IAI and conducted research at its AI Lab, focusing on the fundamental concepts and foundations of generative models, particularly in the context of generative AI. Alongside his master's studies, he began a research internship with the AIMS Group at VUB, which led to his master's thesis entitled "Latent Representation Learning from 3D Brain MRI for Latent Analysis and Prediction in Multiple Sclerosis." This work was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Tran Quoc Long (IAI, VNU-UET), Prof. Dr. Ir. Guy Nagels (Chair of the AIMS Group, VUB), and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Linh Trung (Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology, VNU-UET).
His current research interests include generative AI (GenAI), latent representation learning, medical image analysis, neuroscience, and neuroimaging, with a particular focus on developing AI methods for brain imaging and advancing their applications in clinical research.
