Quang Manh Doan

DOAN Quang Manh is a PhD researcher at the Artificial Intelligence and Medical Sciences (AIMS) research group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. He received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in Mechatronics Engineering from the VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET), Vietnam, in 2022 and 2024, respectively. His master's thesis focused on applying computer vision techniques to EEG signal processing. Since 2022, he has been affiliated with the Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology (AVITECH) at VNU-UET as a research assistant. In 2024, he also undertook a research internship at AIMS, VUB, focusing on federated learning. His research interests include efficient deep learning, neural network pruning, federated learning, and artificial intelligence applications in clinical sciences.

His current research focuses on developing efficient and resource-conscious deep learning methods for biomedical applications. In particular, he investigates synaptic-inspired information recycling for structured neural network pruning to reduce model complexity while preserving predictive performance. He is also interested in federated learning as a framework for collaborative model training across distributed biomedical datasets, with the aim of supporting privacy-aware and computationally efficient AI in clinical research.
