Thomas Demuyser
Biography
Thomas obtained his Master of Science in Drug Development and PharmD degree at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Next he completed a PhD through an IWT (current FWO) fellowship at the Center for Neurosciences, under supervision of Prof. Ilse Smolders and Prof. Ann Massie. He continued combining analytical and clinical disciplines and subsequently graduated from Universiteit Gent as a Master of Science in Clinical Biology and from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven as Master of Science in Infection Prevention. Since 2020 he holds a position of clinical staff member at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel as clinical microbiologist. His research, at the UZ Brussel and VUB, focuses on the domains of human-microbiome interactions, emerging infectious diseases, and molecular-based diagnostics. Thomas recently joined the AIMS lab and will expand his work in AI-applied clinical sciences, in close collaboration with the team.
